Re: my RWD CRX project
Dry-ice is a very slick, easy way of removing that nasty ----. Keep your working area small, it will never come over bigger then 7-9 square inches so don't waste time moving ahead. I have covered the ice with a small cooler, it didn't hurt I guess. Rubber hammers are your friend from the underside, it helps break it up. A cheap thin scraper about 4 inches wide works pretty good. Make sure your friend comes over and drinks all the beer. Company helps keep the project rolling.
And don't listen to these other guys, spend time and do it right. A ton of people can build trick cars, but only 25 percent are right. Take a couple weeks reading about front end designs. The rack is important problem in this car build as you already know. Tack and check, tack and check is the only way to do this. A little tip, make adjustment hole to move the rack up and down, and use washer to adjust it back and forth. Nobody knows if this car likes a little lead with the inside tire. Randy PS take those pedals off, and don't use floor pedals, top mount pedals are way better. Every factory in the world puts the master at a high mounting area, why? |

As far as the sound deadening goes, don't use an air chisel, use dry ice. U'll thank yourself for the time/effort you saved. The air chisel works, but leave a bunch of sticky tar crap behind. Here's some pics from when I did mine on monday. Took MAYBE an hour total. I just used a pry bar, to pry ---- up in huge chunks, and just hit it w/ a hammer in the tough to reach spots

Re: my RWD CRX project
Hell in my hatch I didn't even have to use dry ice. Just broke out the chisel and hammer and they just came up in big chunks without anything left behind. Maybe it's the climate of the region the car is in and the the cold weather take a toll on the tar? I dunno...even my Z was like that too but then again it's from 1975 so that ---- is pretty old.
