from that thread:

As I recall, James put a step in the bushings to help limit the leakage, and the rest is just clearances. Leakage has never seemed to be much of a problem, really. I have it apart right now, and I'm not seeing any burn marks around the bushings or anything.

Damn I want to try and make one. I just need a drill press, I would do it by hand, but my hands would move to much :1

Makes me want to run a nice big holset, make crazy torque/spool, and have huge top end. All on a stock LS.
10-14 psi with a big holset should be awesome and have good DD ability.

I like the idea of the valve however i think that the technology being used today in turbos such as VGT holsets etc. will far surpass this. It seems like one more thing to go wrong. id rather rig an actuator stepper motor or whatever you have to a holset and call it a day. the he351 VGT is dirt cheap on ebay and you get more than just one / two scrolls on at a time its continuously variable.
