You solder in a socket after you desolder the stock chip...

There are a few types of sockets...all ECU's I do I include a ZIF (zero insertion force) which makes it very easy and safer to change chips, which most of us do have to do...

so all you have to do is uninstall the current chip install a ZIF socket then from then on out the chips are just plug in and plug out? xenocron I will be shipping you an ecu as soon as I get close to finishing my project for a baseline map. i will have d16a6, t25, 450cc injectors, and 8psi. cool?

jp...sounds good. All of my ECUs come with a ZIF socket and basemap burned on a chip to get you started.

Send me a PM or an email whenever you are ready.

Thanks

This thread kind of echos a question I've had in the back of my mind for awhile...

So you get the socket installed, get chips and a burner and create your base-map (or find one created and tested for a similar car/setup). From there, you burn a chip and install it in your ECU.

What happens after that? I mean, is your car "tuned" based on the basemap, or do you need to gather more info, apply it to your existing basemap, burn a new chip, install etc...

Repeat as necessary?
