Well i rebuilt my ZC ( DOHC ) a while back. When i did this i got the oil pump seal from a 89 teg and it wasnt the right one. I then got one from a 90-91 civic 1.6 and it worked fine however it always leaked a bit. Now its gotten worse.

I took a ZC oil pump and the one from a 1.6/1.5 and noticed it was almost the same exept that the the OEM oil pump seal on the ZC has this little metal ring on the back of the oil pump seal. I looked on the OEm one on the 1.5/1.6 and its seal didnt have this metal ring/seal. The other thing i noticed is that the ZC oil pump isnt as deep as the 1.6 A6 one ( i have pics i just have to post them) its like maybe 3mm shorter than the A6 oil pump. could the metal seal and the fact that the A6 is deeper cause my oil to leak through the seal out the crank? or is it maybe something else?

im gonna put the car up on jack stands tomorrow and take pics.

Jeff maybe you know what im talking about since you've rebuilt a ZC before. Anyone else chime in if you know what im talking about.

Julio as far as i know all the oem oil seals has that little spring thing around the seal so it puts tension on the surface.

 

im not talking about that im talking about a metal ring on the back side that sits flush between the oil pump seal and THE oil pump.

 

u check the zc resource boards?
all i found is 88-89 a1 and the a6.

 

i have some extra orange silicone we can use bump for my homies oil leak

 

i fixed it ..i dont know what i did but i fixed it. Got a new oil pump seal and a oil pan gasket and some more JB weld for the OIl return fitting on the oil pan.
