ZC engine problem

Re:ZC engine problem
I also have a ZC. You need a PG7 or at least the Si ECU to get enough fuel and timing to make the engine run like it was built to. You have several solutions.
Best- Get a PM6 (Si ECU) and chip it and load up the stock ZC maps
Better- Get a PG7 (88-89 Integra) This is what Im running currently
Good- Unmodded PM6 (Stock Si)
----- PM5 (your DX Setup)
I have a PG7 for sale on ebay, make me an offer. Id rather sell to a fellow HMT guy then some ebay chodda.

Re:ZC engine problem
well, to clear things up first. it's a dohc zc engine. the ignition setup is all crane. it has an external coil and the ignition box. there is an external msd distri. conversion.
ya, the car is obd1 so that's the cause of the confusion. the dx ecu is probably the closest. it's for a 1.6L 16 valve. i thought of the si but that has vtec and i don't know how it would affect things. the fuel and timing probably won't be to friendly with the setup. i was leaning toward an 1.8ls ecu but i figured it'll run pretty rich. i'm thinking it might be ok if i run the ls with the turbo setup i'm piecing together. i'm going afc hack so i think i can just back the fuel off the a little more than if i had the right ecu.
that's it, the best i can come up with..........?

Re:ZC engine problem
Definatly the ECU is the problem, ---- just switching a PM6 to PG7 is a noticable difference in a 4g OBD0 setup. ya, I've always wondered wtf you obd1 guys would do with a ZC for ECU. I would run a PR4 with a vAFC and throw the bitch on a dyno to smooth out the fuel.

Re:ZC engine problem
well, i got an obd1 ls ecu for $85 at a junkyard and put it in earlier today. i drove it around a bit to let the engine warm up. it hasn't run in 2 weeks. anyway, the bottom end power feels a little better. it sounds a little differant but overall it's not that great. this might be the last thing i can do to solve the problem. any input?
