Default ZC engine problem

alright, this is a crazy combo, i know. i have a zc in my 92 civic hatch. it has a dc sports header, adjustable cam gears, external crane ignition, aftermarket clutch, magnaflow exhaust 2.25 in. with no cat currently. i'm running a dx ecu.
from the start it hasn't felt as fast as i thought it should be. it pulls hard at 5k to 7k but seems to not have it all below that. either way, at the track it pulled a 17 sec. flat. i'm definately not a pro. it was my first time but from what i've heard, the zc runs mid to 15's in a crx so i would think a high 15 with all the mods was probable. any ideas?

Well, a CRX is a bit lighter than a hatch. Also, those "mods" you listed are probably good for about 5-8 WHP so you shouldn't expect too much out of it. That ECU might be holding you back a bit as well.

DX ECU
Damnnn that thing isn't giving you nearly as much fuel as you need and the ignition maps aren't helping either.
Get at least a PG7 or something like that.

I don't think so....I don't know if it would work though it's from the 1st gen teg.

The OBD1 teg ECU will flood the engien with too much fuel. The ECU is a PR4 and is ment for a 1.8 DOHC non-vtec not a 1.6 ZC motor. Is this the DOHC ZC or the SOHC ZC? If its a DOHC ZC i would go ahead and chip the DX ECU but that would be why it doent run that well, the ECU is starving your fuel. Are you pinging at all?

sounds to me like teh ecu is kickin your motor's ***. i too had that weak (if its a dohc) 94 zc dohc in my 92 hatch. and trust me...there is an ecu for it...it came in some civic eg5 esi from japan. there is also an optional lsd w/ better ratio trans. but that ecu took me 6 months to get and it wasnt worth it at all. the ecu is for a 5 speed...jdm dohc zc P29. anyother will work..but this is the correct one. it ran pretty good with my 94 ls ecu. like most...you can smell the gas fumes...but it runs fine. i like this better then the z6 but they are weak. you'll have a better time focusing your money on a z6....good luck

oh yeah...i also ran a dx ecu for like....1 trip down the block...it kills the power....atleast go with an LS...
