Ok...i have a cable LS trans...gears in the ls trans are scratchy...I have an extra b16 cable trans with a blown diff....i wanna take out the entire gears out and put them into the ls trans...do i have to change anything like take the indiviidual gears off the shafts and put them on the ls shafts or will the entire gear set go right into the ls case...and do i need to use my b16 or ls counter shafts...and do i need to swap out the b16 final drive onto the LS diff? if you need me to be more specific then ask but if you get what im saying then id appreciate the help....thanks

p.s. i have alot of common sense and when it comes to this ---- i learn fast so i can figure it out but id rather have some expert advice from someone who might have done this before.

Your best bet is to just swap the 3-4 and maybe 5th gearsets.

If you try just to swap the whole gearsets you'll have to use the B16 ring gear also. But most likely it was damaged in the diff explosion.



Also some of the USDM LS trannys got the 4.40 FD while most B16 JDM's are 4.266........

I ended up taking a S1 tranny that had 3-4 issues, dropped in Y1 3-4 gearset from above tranny, then slapped in a USDM LS 5th for highway cruising.

It went into a g2teg with 300+ whp and I've never heard any complaints..........expect from the victims

 

nope....2nd...3rd...4th gear scratchs pretty good....its only gonna get worse....i was gonna swap out the whole gear set...and no the b16 final drive gear isnt fooked...i think ill just swap everything out....do i need to use the b16 final drive gear on the diff? if so then ill take that off the old exploded diff. ill prolly end up putting the ls 5th gear for the highway cause we all know the b16 highway gear ratio
