Default swapping tranny gears

Alright I have tried searching but have found no info for my specific tranny. I have a 92 YS1 (LS) cable tranny. I want to leave the same 1st and 2nd gear, I have read they are the same as a later model GSR and same mainshaft. I want to install the B16 tranny 3rd (1.4) and 4th(0.9??) and possibly 5th in my tranny, while leaving the LS final drive which I think is 4.266 in my model. Is this possible? I figured I would get the best advise from you guys. Thanks in advance

what motor is it going on? Seems like a decent setup, but personally i think i'd change the final drive. But then again i'm just throwing an Ls 5th on a y21 gen2 jdm b16 tranny :P

would this need to be done by a professional? Is there any gears that will bolt right in, possibly the GSR's? Im just looking to shorten it up a little up top.

UPDATE: I was just researching and it turns out my internals are the exact same as the later hydros, so I should in theory be able to switch gears around.

it will either be going on an all motor ls/v or a turbo B18A1

if you swap gears, the mainshaft WILL need reshimmed.

your already said you'd be changing 3-4-5 gears.....so how you gonna do this without changing the gears on the mainshaft?

GEARSETS = a pair, like a pair of ****.....

Probably the easiest route would be to swap the guts out of a hydro GSR trans into your YS1 case, but like Bone already said proper shimming will ne in order. Although you are swapping a matched set of gears that have been setup into another case, the odds are that the mainshaft endplay won't be in spec because of manufacturing tolerances in the cases. Then agian you might get lucky, either way you are going to have to take it to someone who knows how to check the endplay and correct or learn how to do it yourself.
