dont beat on the thread end of the axles without a block of wood or somthing, you'll F up the threads and then it will be fun trying to put the nut back on.

FYI, #2 is an option, but not a good one. I currently have a 4-1 style header on my b16 swapped hatch, and the header will sit out past the front of the stock crossmember. I had to make a custom triangulated center section for where the header sits just to gain enough clearance for it, and the header still rubs the tubing I used. Not to mention if you don't jig up the crossmember before you cut it, it's guaranteed it will be off when you weld it back together and your alignment will always be fucked. You have 2 options:
1. Sell the header and pick up a cheap 4-2-1 style
2. Get a traction bar to replace the stock crossmember and have a 4-1 header that sits low and drags on everything. :P

4-1 header on a lowered 4th gen chassis is well asking for major dents. I have always liked the clearance that the dc sports 4-2-1 header fits in. You should be able to find a cheap used one plenty floating around. You gonna to have to notch a little but not much

onetime my axle got stuck in the intermediate shaft, i took it to a shop, and they couldnt get it out either, the teeth just jammed up on me. so if its really stuck then yeah that could happen.
