90' CRX DX, attempted B18a1
Here's problem #1.. old Axle inboard joints are ------- TIIIGHT on the intermediate shaft.. Can't get them off for ----.. pryed and pryed and pryed. any advice?? i've tried everything and the whole goddamn intermediate shaft moves when I pry like a bad bitch.

Here's Problem #2.. Header I bought is a 1 piece 4-1 header.. and it wont go in there unless I remove the front cross member .. yay
Problem #3.. Had a company (monotech) make me a harness.. there isn't a plug for my 02 sensor, just 2 little wire nubs that look like Radiator plug ins. It's a 1 wire 02

well first of all 4-1 headers were not designed to go in the EF chassis.. 4-2-1 header FTW.. secondly hit the axel with the BFH and pry at the same time it will pop right out.. third go to the store and get more beer. and last thats what you get when you have someone make ---- for you

yay i got them out.. now the new goddamn axles wont go in because of that ------- pin.. and i dont have the right goddamn tools,a nd i'm using a sledge just fuckign up my new axles.. yay.. i'm real close to putting a bullet in my .30 .30 and ending my life

honestly.. what is your solution in installing an axle into a LS trans. It's got a pin on the end of the spline, and thats what keeps it from going in the intermediate shaft. You can't beat on it anywhere because you ---- up the end of the shaft.. or if you beat toward the inboard joint, you'll ---- the boot up. You tell me becuase i'm goddamn clueless

put the right end in the tranny(get it splined up)
put the other end in the nuckle
use the nucke and the shaft to hammer it in
pull the nuckle back a bit then ram forward, repeat this over and over and she will pop in

Have the engine/trans hovering just above the mounts. Install the axles into the hub side and put the axle nut on the end. The lower ball joint should be in place and tightened. slip the ends of both axles into the trans/intermediate shaft and lower the engine/trans into the mounts, if the weight of the engine/trans is not enough to pop the axles in have your fat ass mother stand on the engine while you roll the car back and forward about an inch or so (with the wheels on obviously).

Some things to think about:
Sounds like the clip on the end of the stub shaft is what's hanging you up. Make damn sure that the clip is not bent or otherwise fucked up. Put some heavy grease on it to keep it centered on the shaft during installation, and line it up right before sliding the shaft into the trans. All of this is common sense ----. If you can't find a solution on your own, give up. You are not meant for this type of work.

FYI, #2 is an option, but not a good one. I currently have a 4-1 style header on my b16 swapped hatch, and the header will sit out past the front of the stock crossmember. I had to make a custom triangulated center section for where the header sits just to gain enough clearance for it, and the header still rubs the tubing I used. Not to mention if you don't jig up the crossmember before you cut it, it's guaranteed it will be off when you weld it back together and your alignment will always be fucked. You have 2 options:
1. Sell the header and pick up a cheap 4-2-1 style
2. Get a traction bar to replace the stock crossmember and have a 4-1 header that sits low and drags on everything. :P

4-1 header on a lowered 4th gen chassis is well asking for major dents. I have always liked the clearance that the dc sports 4-2-1 header fits in. You should be able to find a cheap used one plenty floating around. You gonna to have to notch a little but not much

onetime my axle got stuck in the intermediate shaft, i took it to a shop, and they couldnt get it out either, the teeth just jammed up on me. so if its really stuck then yeah that could happen.

that used to happen on some atv's we would cut the axle down to about nothing and weld something on to use a slide hammer. :)

already tried and soaked the shaft and the axle joint in used motor oil for like 2 weeks to break up the rust




still no go


it now sits in the pile of rusted junk on the side of my shop.

If anyone cares, a little update on whats up. I got the axles all figured out.. Installed my new ones, fit perfectly. dropped the front crossmember and slid the header up, had to notch the crossmember a bit for header clearance, kind of hated to do that but oh well.. if it fucks alignment or anything up i'll reinforce it or get an aftermarket traction bar. Figuring out a little more wiring, and radiator stuff and hopefully will fire the bitch up soon.
