Default My part-throttle stutter is back...now with burning oil smell

I thought I fixed this the last time I made this thread, but I guess not. Previously I was having bad fuel pressure/pump issues, so I swapped in the stock pump and it seemed to be fine again. Over the past week though it's been acting up again. Only parts/sensors I haven't changed or replaced on this b16 are the injectors, ignitor, coil (aftermarket MSD Blaster SS coil), and the dizzy itself. Thought the injectors might be sticking (since they sat for a while) so I tossed some injector cleaner in and took them out and cleaned them this morning. No difference. Plugs look awesome, almost like brand new out of the box.

What happens is either when I go to take off slowly from a stop or just light (under 15%) throttle in-town cruising, it acts like it's misfiring...sometimes to the point where it bucks violently and gives me whip lash. I've tried new BRE maps, even stock one's with both o2's disabled and all the major obd0 pr3 sensors and it still does the same thing. Now I've also noticed a slight oil burning smell right as this happens and on a decel, but I don't see any clouds of smoke that's usually a sign of worn rings or large oil consumption. In fact, it really doesn't use any oil at all, maybe a half a quart in a month and a half's time. Blow-by is pretty high when you pop the oil filler cap off (like it is on any honda :P ) so I'm also wondering if that could be a factor in this.

Any ideas, please post 'em up!

I know the cleaner won't fix them, that's why I took them out and tried cleaning them by hand (also made sure the pintles moved freely). The dizzy isn't brand new, I've had it on the motor since I bought it 2 years ago, but the inside is still pretty clean and I put on a new cap and rotor. The motor's an '89 though, so that dizzy is getting pretty old. I have a spare LS dizzy that's almost new, but I don't really want to hack off the lower tab just yet.

Before reading farther than msd coil...

I had one installed on my 95 LS, and with it installed, I had part-throttle stutter. With a new OEM type, Korean made, Dizzy and cap installed, no more stutter, and it ran a lot better.

My coil lasted about a year until the stutter developed, yours is 2 yrs old I think you stated, so it might be ready for the trash.

Brand new wires, fuel lines are still looking brand new.

That's a very good possibility, I haven't really checked into that. Maybe I'll try swapping the stock cap and coil back in and see what it does.

Swapped the stock coil and cap back on, and it seems to have taken almost all the stutter away. You can see where it still starts to bog a little, but at least now it doesn't break up bad like it used to. That combined with a colder plug helped alot.

Yeah, I have to say I'm pretty disappointed with that coil, def. not worth the money I spent on it originally.
I have a feeling the rest of the stuttering issue is dealing with blowby and oil consumption. I've noticed once and a while my oil pressure will jump up quite a bit like when the crankcase builds up alot of pressure, and if you hold it full-throttle for a couple and then let go it usually drops back down and I get a nasty oil smell. It's def. time to finish that new motor, this one's pretty much on it's way out. Of course, daily 8500 rpm smackage definitely doesn't help either. :P
