Crank walk.
I read and heard that it is one of the problems all 2nd gen DSM's have.

Pulley Tensioning Thingamajig.... was in dire need of adjustment... belt was real loose and it jumped a tooth.... Fixd it, then sold it to my friend....

He ran it hard.... then the crank ate ----.... and the belt got snagged... and timing all fucked up...and that killed the head.

Either the crank is fucked... or just a simple tension adjustment... or get a new one...

I think it was scc that said that a good swap for the 2nd gen dsm was a 1st gen dsm motor, shouldn't they be advancing in technology?

I wish I had a car with enough power to worry about crankwalk and problems like that. Turbo is coming next week though, so it shouldn't be long...

it was mainly the 95s and 96s. 95 was the worst year for crankwalk. i've got a 98 gst (for sale) with 119k and so far, so good.
