Help! Do rocker arms have to match the cam shaft?
Hi,
I need some quick help, I've been reassembling my d16a1 today and everything has bene going smoothly but I've hit a road block. THe problem is when I go to adjust the valve lash after the timing is all set and everything, I'm sure it is correct. One of the rocker arms is pressed against the camshaft and can't be loosened any more. I have a feeling this is due to them having to be matched to there apropriate spot on the camshaft. I had them all laid out in the right order when I took them out but I have afeeling at the machine shop they were all mixed up! Is there any way for me to figure out where they go? Or is there another problem? DO they have to be in the right spot? What do you do when you get a new camshaft?
I'd like to get this finished tonight if possible...
Thanks,
Conor M.

The only time you ever replace something is if you are working with a car that has hydraliuc lifters. I.E Older V8's/DSM's, basically dont want to get a flatspot in your camshaft. I have used differnt cams before without problems.. The followers on hondas hardly wear at all.

What other PR3 head do you have?

Thanks for the quick responses!
I went ahead and installed everything again. Basically one of the intake valves on the #1 cyl. and an exhaust on the #3 have a valve lash of .001 instead of .005 I can't back it off at all because the treads on th e rocker arm are bottomed out This is really strange? The vavles in question actaully looked like they were a hair taller than it pair? I went ahead and put everyhting back together though because there isn't any piston to valve interference. Very strange. I hope it runs ok any ideas on what going on? I tried multiple different rockers on the valves in question and it didn't change anything.
Again Thanks for being so quick.
