what model is the clutch for i hope an si but if your using a 92-95 clutch it wont work unless you have the lip on the 88 machined to the same hieght as the 92-95.

88 si trannys aredifferent than every other crx/civic tranny as it has 21 splines on the input shaft and every thing else uses 20 splines.

If you had the flywheel resurfaced, then the step got shallower. The step needs to be at a certain minumum or there will be too much room for the disk and it will slip.

You need to either get a new flywheel or have your current one be machined to have the step brought back into spec.

i stayed with the guy long enough to see him him look up the step height for the flywheel...maybe theres something about how far out the vtec crank puts the 88 flywheel, didnt even think to compare them when i did the swap...

The crank position doesn't matter, it is just the relation between the pressure plate surface and the flywheel surface. If the gap is too big, then the disk will slip in between.

Heres your fix. 92 up flywheel and pressure plate. 88 Accord clutch disk. fits perfect like it was made together.
had to do this in my wagon since my awd trans is 88. get a disk at honda if you're gonna use stock type. $54 if you know someone there. I got a hookup on honda parts here.
