D16z6 and D16a6 dipstick lengths?
This is probably gonna be the dumbest question anyone's read all month, but here goes. 2 years ago i picked up a D16z6 from a boneyard and it had a broken dipstick to check the oil with. No problem i thought, just swapped the one that was in my junk a6 and never thought twice about it. Now 2 years later i'm wondering if they're different lengths, mainly because when i fill the oil level up to where the stick says it's supposed to be, it seems like the crank is being bogged down in too much oil. And not only that, the motor will burn the oil until it hits a certain level and then stops, even though it shows up low on the stick. Also my oil pressure seems to be higher when the oil level is low than when it is topped off. Anybody ever hear of anything this retarded before? Or better yet, does anyone have an a6 and a z6 dipstick they can compare for me and let me know. Perhaps a larger oil pan even?

I would do the above plan from jago, or just get another dipstick. The only variables are the stick, block, and pan. So if they are all from the same engine then you are golden.
You could also just measure the sticks, that would work.

I think i'll do that this weekend when i do an oil change, although i'm still puzzled over the higher oil pressure with "less" oil. Oh well, even if it blows up, it's still a cheap D-series
