Can Someone Clear This Swap Up For Me...
Guys I recently bought an 00' Civic DX NO VTEC. This car is weak and whoever I bought it from cut the harness for what looks like no reason. Maybe the engine was stolen and they didnt want to deal with unplugging everything. I am looking to swap to a b18c but I am afraid of boosting it due to the high compression. I heard the head from a b18c and an LS block are a great combo for turbo applications and I want to run about 350 whp. Is there some other option I should be looking at that will still be safe and run a low c/r?
Ok, all you guys are mixed UP!! B18 sucks because it has no vtec. When you here vtec kick in on an N/A DOHC...it's like no other.
B16a will always beat a b18a/b unless the b18a is in a significantly lighter car w/ good driver. It is just plain and boring with b18a/b because you have to shift at 6,900 rpm, also no vtec, who cares about the 10 extra lbs of torque.
And he said he doesn't want turbo...and LS-Vtec is not good for turbo because the compression for an LS Vtec is generally even higher than a b16, unless you plan on buying some aftermarket low compression pistons.

dude b16a or b18c1, you will never be happier when vtec engages, it sounds sweet nothing like puny sohc vtec that u cant even hear..
if u want the b18 it is cool but it defintely isnt a b16a...
