built b16a1 w/ JRSC and 50 shot into 96 hatch
ok, were peiceing together a racecar out of a few others, and i need some wiring help, as i'm new to the b series swaps. to put this old motor into the new car, i have heard i need (or at least its easiest) to run a 96-98 civic ex wiring harness. is this true? i guess it is one peice all the way to the ecu. will the crank fluxuation sensor give us any problem?(there isnt one on the old block, yet we will still be obd2) it should be a fun little swap, were still hunting down odds and ends, but should be a good time. what would be the best ecu for this also? i was thinking a 99si or new gsr, or would a obd1 del sol vtec work better? just trying to figure out what we gotta buy, we need to get this racecar done by the first honda meet of the year! its body is gettin taken care of right now, (bought it for 700 buck), it should be a beautiful peice, i'll post pics when done.

um....i really dont know much about that stuff, the car is a 96 dx hatch, and the motor is a cross between a 99si motor and a 91 jdm block with the supercharger. we dont have an ecu yet, but we have the wiring harness off of the dx. i really dont know much about the 96 hatch, and searching doesnt seem to be doing too much good anywhere about obd2 systems. its too late in the morning for me to be on here anyways, its 3 am here. i am a dumbass. sorry about that

ouch thats a lil confusing even for me. with out the crank sensor the car won't start. You have a obdII head with a obd0 block....you may need a conversion harness. I would try using the obdII ECU from the civic you got the head from and make the whole thing obd-I. I'm not sure this ones gonna be a little bit harder to work because you used parts from both ends of the tree. I'll help you do some research.

is the b16a the whole engine or just the block if its just the block you will be ok just get a obd2 head like gsr or 99 si head. vtec engine is like ls vtec without drilling a hole on the head and no torque but you might get a bit more compression by doing this or lower it will depends what you put in. info what you got will be helpful.

Re:built b16a1 w/ JRSC and 50 shot into 96 hatch
ok, the motor was burned up, it is from a 99 si. we put a b16a we had sitting around in the 99 si, and were selling the car. in order to run the obd0 b16 a in the 99 si, we transfered everything from the obd2 motor to the b16a. the only parts we used were the block and head off the obd0 motor, but we had to use the front of the block from the 99si motor on the obd0 motor, cause it has the crank fluxuation sensor, so basically what we are working with on this motor is a obd0 block with obd2 everything else. i know this is a little confusing, i'm actually gettin confused. basically, my question is, does the 96-98 ex harness go all the way to the ecu uncut, and does it have a crank fluxuation sensor? it is a little sensor that runs to the crank timing pulley. the car will run without it, we did it, but you get a CEL. anyways, thanks for your help so far guys. by the way, we are completely building the motor, since it was burned up, its gettin sleeved, JE pistons, and eagle rods, and new everything really. thanks-adam

well the 99 si the car came out of was a PERFECT car except the motor blew when he put too much nitrous in it, so we put a new bottom end on it and its being sold, he owns a dealership. i'll figure something out.
