If you are planning a pump gas warrior with forgings in a stock sleeve block I wouldn't go much/any larger on the turbo and try to make the 375-400 whp number. 9-9.5:1 is where I'd aim; this isn't like low revving V8s that make huge midrange power right where torque peak is, all you are doing with a 4 cyl is extending the torque curve on out so it doesn't fall off much and rpms will convert it into big horsepower. You should have 10 psi by 3000-4000 rpms depending on turbine wheel and exact manifold dynamics, basically the upper half of your rpm band is all power and the car will be very driveable.

You won't hook for ---- out of the hole until you get the correct suspension and alignment. Expect to hurt some feelings from a highway roll, but there is a certain amount of FWD driving experience and playing with alignment you have to undergo before you can play traffic light bingo with the big boys. There's quite a lot of stuff you can do to make a FWD hook off the line... as a general rule the better the car bites from a dig the more it tries to kill you in a curve.

BTW, OBD2 oil pumps are what I run as they are a later evolution and standardized platform (same housing/gears, just different pressure spring and shim), but you probably won't get a non-OBD2 lower timing cover to fit correctly. IIRC it can be done but i have an OBD2 cover on my car... you want to run one as it makes things easy setting ignition timing and keeping rocks from destroying your timing belt/drive.

Joseph, you are being uncharacteristically overly helpful. In a good mood?

I've been drunk for a solid 48 hours now, that always helps my mood.

Well I am looking into the suspension and all that later on, right now i am worrying about the motor and gettin it to push what I want then I move to brakes, suspension, and body bracing. I have the car in my shop right now finishing up body work too, so once I get this motor together and tuned and body painted I am ripping out the suspension and redoing it lol. But thanks for all your help. I am running a equal length mani to help with exhaust pulses and hopefully help in top end. I know there is a ton of problems I have to face with traction and handling its just I need to move on to that later I already have enough projects with this car going on at once LOL.

Equal length is unimportant in a common collector engine.

The one you have, LOL.

I was just saying the whole equal/unequal length manifold argument never goes anywhere. People at the very tip top of motorsports have been competitive with both styles. What is important is to have long enough primaries to prevent significant reversion.

Well I hope its a good investment for 800 dollars lol. I just need to put everything together and go from there. Then find a good tuner cause I dont know if I can tune this motor by myself lol
