Default B16a timing issues

I'm new to b series so please bare with me. I've done a few searches but I haven't found what I'm looking for. 90 crx si with jdm B16a still obd0 with a pm6 for now. I have the pw0 but I want to get this resolved before I go any further. When I got the motor it was using the stock si distributor with one of the legs hacked off. I checked the timing and I can't get it any closer than 18 degrees with the dist rolled all the way foward (towards the radiator). B series timing marks are on the plastic cover in front (left) the motor mount correct? Whereas d series is in back (right) of the motor mount. Its the only mark i saw. And the marks on the crank are -2, 0, +2 ------- +16 correct? Oh and I did have the plug jumped out with a piece of wire.

well if the legs have been hacked off you diz then chances are the ------- thing isn't in the right orientation, or plug wires are messed up in combination with that, so your timinig can only move so far. With the dizz installed properly the flattest spot on the distributor should face stright up. Then cylinder number 1 plug wire connects to the bottom rear plug hole. Then three goes above that, then four then two.
