High temp copper permatex on the exhaust manifold will seal it just fine.

I've used a table top belt sander a number of times for WG and exhaust flanges. Works very well IMHO.
In the absence of a MLS or single layer embossed gasket, Id personally belt sand the manifold and use a light coating of copper spray over any type of fiber or diy gasket.

Ive also used copper sheet for gasket material on multiple 5-bolt DP flanges w/ good results. I don't know if the higher temps/pressure would make it suitable for head-manifold use. It is very malleable though.

nope, no it doesnt. wishing i'd chucked that in in the first place though. i am totally unconvinced that you arent infact ignorant and blinded by your experience to the point of no longer thinking. the water thread had inklings of this though, that could be put down to your apparent inability to read and write accurately and in a non ambiguous way.

perhaps get over yourself? that would be a start.

newsflash, i never changed tack at all. the whole point was that you were saying that it doesnt occur, and that i was saying that :
A. it does occur
B. given a setup with high initial iats, it would make a difference
C. the "literature" (and i use the term loosely) that you posted DOES NOT SET OUT TO SHOW, OR IN ANY OTHER WAY SHOW WHAT YOU WERE TRYING TO SAY
D. that you ignore C and write my posts off as some one who cant read.

A) It does not occur.
B) The literature was derived from a test on an engine running 250 degrees IAT. These are abnormally high temperatures.
C) The literature - which originated from your betters, was subjected to PEER REVIEW, that you haven't been able to contradict with more than a "but I think it works like..." - says exactly what I said; that there IS no cooling of the intake charge. I repeat - I quoted it almost word for word. ::)
D) When you can't read and understand basic concepts it's pretty easy to discount everything you say.

Fred, linking to wikipedia does not help your cause. There are immeasurable errors found on that site in multiple catagories. Its no better than your basic run of the mill text book. A bunch of college kids typing ---- in on the computer, based on misinformation they found on the internet. It is cancer.

BTW did you happen to realize that even if some cooling of the intake charge did occur, where exactly do you think that heat is going to go??? Your not changing energy to matter, so nothing is lost. Basically, the point you are arguing is moot.
