Wider 5th Gear 90 SI Rex

Wider 5th Gear 90 SI Rex
Since this is a tranny question, I'm putting it in general.
80 mph at almost 4000 rpm isn't so nice. Sure it has great take off from there, but I would rather depend on my turbo for that, and just enjoy some top end speed. Can't you install the HF 5th gear into the SI transmission? Even if it dropped the RPMS by about ~500, that would be great. I'm not real familiar with the HF trans, so I'm not sure about the whole deal. I've heard someone say that it would drop the RPM's down about 400 at 80 MPH. IS this true?
Thanks for your help
btw, I'm asking this question because I recently took a long trip to the mountains and I didn't feel comfortable at that rpm for the speed I was going.

I know that people have swapped 5th gears before, although i am clueless on how they did this...
but as for speed vs. rpm in any gear, check this out...
http://crx.honda-perf.org/math/index.html
here's what i got...
80MPH Si: 3874rpm
80MPH Hf 5th gear in Si tranny: 3487rpm
cheers

Re:Wider 5th Gear 90 SI Rex
yea but the hf has a higher final drive also. the fifth gear would lower it by about 400 like you thought. was gonna do that to my awd trans but it has bigger gears and splines that the normal d series trans. therefore I got an hf trans sitting around. mista bone from honda-tech has swapped them in before.

Re:Wider 5th Gear 90 SI Rex
I should have done this when I swapped out my old clutch! I had the tranny sitting around for 3 days... I've tested ALL of my turbo components, and there's nothing else left to do except install them. This will happen when ghettodyne is sitting good on boost support... can't wait.
After that is done, and my d16a6 gives up the ghost, I'll be putting in a built ZC (rods, etc) running 12 psi, and that HF 5th gear (just the gear). Think about, all 4 gears to race with, and a nice long 5th gear for some serious fun... I will need a reliable spoiler (not a wing). Thinking about the JDM style.
150 MPH @ 6539 RPM
90 MPH @ 3900 RPM
I personally wouldn't take my car 150... maybe

Yeah, I'd probably die.
However, suspension modifications, and a right setup would allow you to. I really have no reason to go that fast anyway, but I do admit the gearing seem's more logical for a crx (for travel's sake). Less stress on the engine, and slightly better gas milage. I wouldn't bother in a NA rex.
