I lied in a HT thread tonight (so it doesn't really count, there being no tech over there and all, and I 'fessed up to it here), but it does have wideband closedloop enabled currently. Switching at 16:1 AFR, and there was no discernable loss of part throttle power in the 16.5-17:1 AFR when I was originally tuning it so I think I'm going to go a touch leaner. I really need to book some time on Aaron Lail's MD-1100SE because I'm pretty sure 45 min to an hour trimming my part throttle timing would make a difference.

My car is not light. Anyone who knows me will tell you it's a two seater because I carry all my gear in it.
You forgot that I exist over a half mile above sea level, in the mountains. This causes a FE loss, as does my short distance, spirited in town driving. I go to top off in the morning, I'm pretty confident I'll be in the 26-28 mpg range for in-city driving again. It's simple algebra that tells you what I am getting from a highway cruise.
---- aero work until I have the machine the way I like it. Stock HF's have clicked off 60 mph with similar aerodynamics to mine, yeah it makes gains but not as much as driving habits, or the engine's efficiency.

Re: JD's assault on a 50+ mpg daily driver.
Everytime I coast down the mountain into thicker air, I have to come back up it. The extra energy expended climbing the mountain outweighs the coast down and the aerodynamic gains from altitude - this is why mileage in a mountainous environment typically sucks.
And when I am on a long enough roadtrip to calculate my mileage at a highway cruise, guess what? I'm not at a high elevation anymore.

Also, pumping losses in thin air exceed the benefits of altitude on Cd.
Bone, unless I drive on the Parkway, every road in this town leads down the mountain. The only way to do highway mpg testing is head to flatland.

Re: JD's assault on a 50+ mpg daily driver.
The "new" motor in my car 5-10 throttle and it loves to cruise, but get beyond that and it sorta hits a flat shot.
Figure thought the 4 door is 300-400 lbs heavier than my old HB, plus the slushbox effectively adds another 300-400 lbs.
I'm doing mpg testing for 1200 miles, then add CAI, retest, then have Dave socket the ECU for datalogging and see where to go from there.
Needs the cam advanced though........
