2jz. That engine is just grossly overbuilt from the factory, which is awesome. With the ability to easily make over 600 daily driven horsepower, the only thing holding it back is the car its in (nothing against the supra). Datsun 510 ftw, forgot who said it earlier, but you are correct. I am also fond of the 70 celica

If it was easy (which it totally isnt) I would love to put a turbo BEAMS in the Tercel. I was thinking about gettign a rotted otu blown up 91-94 and building all the mounts and stuff to put it in that car, then once it was done transfering it to my car

MY build project would sound something like...
4g63 w/ b-series harness, dizzy, and ecu...
attached to a TH400...
driving a ford 8.8" rear....

Under the hood of an 83 starlet.
>:D

400hp is easily attainable and would move an 1800lb RWD car down the quarter very nicely.

For me reasons being,

2jz= HEAVY!!! not cost effective.
3s= Very overrated, cranks prone to cracking in all but 3rd gens$$$
rb26= see 2jz.

SR20 might be a "better" engine, but prices are still incredible for these things. Even a 7bolt 4g63 is more than adequate for that goal.

the RB26 is a pile of ---- people. honestly. its unbalanced and the internals arent forged like people think they are. Stock, they are good for about 600 ponies and thats about it. if you can get it over 600hp, then you have tranny issues.

If I had to choose a 6cyl to ---- with, it would be a 2j probably. if I could choose anything for rwd, it would be a SR20det of course ;)

Mulitple reasons. They need sleeved and forged internals to make any real power. Um the trannies are crap. And the monster H that Spiker is fighting with right now is having problems at 500-600ish hp. And an sr20det and the toyota 23j2j32j whatever it is from a supra can make some great power on stock internals.

But hey I love h22's put one in a hatch and you have a very decntly quick na honda. I tuned one about 2 months ago and I have to say it's my favorite just a street car DD honda Ive ever driven.
