IDK buddys just says it needs a top end, he used it as a race bike but bought a 08 450. Their is one on CL that says it needs a top end also but for $750. Im still not sure if i want a full on dirt bike yet, as its a pain to load up in a truck to go ride and id need all new gear.

Rm's don't seem to hold ---- for value. Topends are cheap and easy to rebuild. I bought a new cylinder, piston, rings, rod bearing and all gaskets for less than $500. Made my bike feel like brand new again, nice and crisp.

I'm not familiar with RM's so I'm not sure what kind of cylinders they use. If it's not nickel you might be able to just bore it over and slap a new piston/rings in it.

when i had to do my 125 3 years ago it was like 50 for gaskets, 100ish for piston and like 300 for a whole new jug.....but its all how you can find parts
i think all two strokes/ all high end bikes have coated cylinders since like 95ish my 03 yz has um and i think my dads 98 wr is coated too

I dont think any dirt bikes are holding their value right now.

Well right now, yeah. Everything is tanking in value. Even when times were good they didn't seem to be worth a ----, even fairly new ones. I'm not hating on them as I have no personal experience with them. A few friends of mine have had them and I took them for rides. I didn't like the ride position on them and it seemed like the front end had pogo sticks for shocks. :l
