Could just chack it by wireing a light to the vtec slenoid out put on the ecu. Because there would be no output if there wasn't enought oil pressure.

if you're motor is pulling hard to red line, you have vtec unplug your vtec solenoid and then see if you notice a difference

doesn't the ecu send a signal to activate the vtec solenoid which in turn locks the rockers? so putting a vtec light does not necessarily mean your vtec cams are engaging?

i'll try removing the solenoid signal, will see if there is a difference

but....... the ecu will not send the solenoid power if the readings from the vtec pressure sensor aren't what the ecu is looking for, ya know what i mean. besides, whatever the case may be, you would more than likely have code 21 or 22 if either one of those situations was the case. like abaz said, vtec isn't as noticeable when you're already in boost, it all happens so quick. but yeah, unplug your solenoid, of course you'll get a cel, but the car will still run fine, just no vtec, then see what it's really like with no vtec
