ok so ringlands toast... did it kill the block too? Because where did all that freakin oil spray out of? The dipstick? I know when my ringlands went I was getting pressure in the pan that would shoot some oil onto my manifold... but not like 3 gallons worth.

not really sure. I know a shitload of smoke was coming from the back of the block at idle, thinkin the black breather box? probably started shooting out oil once i reved it.

and it was burning a shitload of oil cause cyl 3 has a hole clear through the size of a dime. no pieces of piston were lying in the pan though so it musta blown out the exhaust valve.

found some used pistons I'm going to pick up as well as a block. flat rate hone/ new rings and probably rod bearings and I should be running this weekend. Won't be perfect but hopefully will last long enough for me to put something decent together. My cousin wiped off the cylinder walls and you can still see where the pistons were sitting before I bought the car... rust pitting. Its not too bad but really the block needs a bore and larger pistons. So pretty much i'll just be reloading the time bomb

Picked up 4 used pistons from chris, new set of rings, complete head gasket set, plastigage, and a ball hone.

My plan was to hone the cylinders, plastigage the bearings on the new pistons and rods so I could order the proper size, and replace the rings and all the gaskets. What I found once I honed the cylinders was a shitload of pitting that was DEEP from rust when i first bought the car. (spark plugs were left out and engine filled with water). ---- if i'm going to waste my new rings and gaskets on such a piece of ----.

So new plan, I cleaned everything with kerosene, mix and matched bearings and piston rings from the new and old pistons till I had a complete set, plastigaged to make sure i wasnt' binding on a bearing, and applied copious amounts of assembly lube to everything.
Total cost:
pistons with rods $55
assembly lube and copper spray $9
cam seal plug $15
That is IT. everything else was re-used after being cleaned give a quick once over.
stepped it up to a heavier 15w-40 oil cause pressure was a little low at idle before. I'm gonna try not to boost too much till i have a backup engine on the stand, but yeah I give it a week.

I have some pics of how shitty the cylinder walls are i'll try and get thrown up, otherwise not much else to see yet.
