Default Twin Charging 240?

I'm building a ka24de for a 240sx and it's going to be turbo'ed. I know I want to go turbo, that's not a question, but as a side project I was thinking about making a homemade supercharger setup.... I have a twin screw whipple supercharger sitting in my room that is almost is in working order. From there I would throw it on and possibly try twin charging?

Here's the supercharger I have, It's only the actaul housing, and the parts inside of it, I don't have the flanges or any other ----.

Any comments on this idea? How do people like twin charged setups? Also, if a supercharger is internally oiled, would It work on it's side as well as flat?

it sounds like too much trouble.

the s/c would provide the low end and a turbo would provide the high end...but do 240s have much of a top end at all?

I would recommend just going with a normal turbo setup

They don't have a super high redline due to the really long stroke.. They're made more for torque. But with a supercharger on the bottom end, and like a holset turbo or something like that up top, wouldn't that give a nice powerband all the way through?

Ditto. That whipple is big for that setup. What is that a 2300? (or bigger? I don't keep up with screws)
When you are "compound" charging you want a smaller centrifugal compressor (Turbo) feeding a larger unit. Because the turbo is going to be more efficient, you run low psi on your larger compressor & make the difference up with the smaller compressor. This is also something best left to a small turbo + big turbo, or a small turbo + roots blower.

As cool as "compound" charging is, it doesn't gain assloads over a medium sized turbo setup, or a well picked screw compressor until you really get looking for some big power. (But there's still noting better than a turbo blowing through something else! )

If you're set on doing it, ditch the whipple for an M45, (M62 at the largest) & grab a small turbo that will spool quickly. What you want in your first compressor (turbo) is something that can let a lot of air bypass it before it get's moving (Turbo) & something that can provide increased pressure quickly & efficiently. It is not imperative that it can move a lot of air, just pre-compress it.
It defeats the purpose of the setup buy using a large turbo blowing into your second form of charging.
(Duh, it'll make more power, but the cost at which it does so will be larger than the gains of the setup)

Here's the Helix13 kit for a Mini Cooper.
M45 compressor @ 14psi (19% pulley, common 210bhp kit)
VS
M45 compressor @ 14psi + GT28rs @ 6psi (20psi)

Afterwards the M45 boost was dropped to 10psi @ the GT28 brought up to 13psi. Added water injection & it's a 300whp car.


What kind of power are you looking to make

In the end I was looking for about 450 hp.... But if possible I wanted to not have too much lag... How do you think the supercharger would work alone on a 240? I've just got it sitting here, and it's not worth much by itself, I think it'd be a fun project when there's nothing to do in auto.
