Turbo leaking oil?
Well, hello everybody. My name is Ryan, long time fan first time poster.
Anyway, I use a Volvo T3 .42/.48 on my B16 hatch. It was given to me for free out of a junk pile and it didn't spin very well at all, looked like crap, was full of grime and old oil. That's where my inspiration for a turbo set up came from. Well this is what it looks like now.
I hot tanked it, sandblasted, bead blasted, and fully rebuilt it. And thanks to this site I was able to do my whole set up for about 850$ down to the last bolt and washer.

When running there is no smoke nothing. It works perfectly. My B16 and turbo was previously in a four door Civic but then I bought a hatchback and swapped everything over.
I haven't put the turbo back on it yet because I'm waiting for a new downpipe. But anyway since the turbo hasn't been used in about a month I put a couple of teaspoons of oil in it and spun the wheel and let the oil drain out.
I was looking at it the other day and on the turbine wheel there was a little bit of oil wetness on the fins. Is that normal? It's not like pools of oil are coming out it was just a little wet. I read on a website that it's not uncommon for turbos to leak a slight amount of oil. And people from Honda-Acura.net and Honda-Tech.com said that it doesn't seem unusual seeing as how the only thing keeping the oil in is the bearings and the clip rings on the thrust collar and turbine shaft. And since oil has a thin viscosity it can weap out.
I just figured I would get a third opinion on the matter because it kind of has me in panic mode. There's no way damage could have been done to the turbo from the time I took it off the motor to the month it's been sitting on my pool table.
I'm trying to decide on wether to spend more than I want to on a 60/63 or just switch up the compressor side for a 60. I really like the way the .48 feels but at like 7500 I can definetly tell it's at it's limit. But that has to wait till after the downpipe and Profec controller.
