Re: Try this for cheap charge pipe

You could try the flexable PVC, but with all the PVC problems, I decided to try the kanaflex.

Clamps do work on it, the basic point is that if you put the kanaflex on the size coupling it's suppose to go on (2/3" ID pipe on a 2/3" OD coupler) it grabs so hard, there is very little need for a clamp. It takes an assload of pulling to get it off.

I just threw some of the cheap IDEAL hose clamps on there instead of wasting my T-bars.
The stuff is basically 50%" plyable rubber, and 50% 1/4" thick plastic.

My biggest fear using the stuff was that I couldn't couple it to a non-standard size. A Home Depot coupler on the outside of the kanaflex that connects to my 4" AFM adapter was going to be the problem spot. (No one makes a 2" ID to 4" OD.) I wound up putting it on like you see. I had to use a T-bar clamp on to get enough grip on the outside of the kanaflex.

A buddy wanted me to find out if a normal hose clamp would do the same. It was close, It would start leaking a little bit after a few days. On a night racing road side repair, we took a tube of Automotive Goop on it, then clamped the normal hose clamp back on. (Dumbass me Didn't have a T-bar clamp in the car...)

I haven't touched it since. I will when I get another intercooler, and finally decide if it's possible to cheaply twin turbo for the hell of saying I have a twin setup (I'm not a fan).

I told you that just to ramble.
Yes, you can use any hoseclamp to clamp the hose onto a connector successfully, but if you're going to couple something onto the outside of it, I would highly suggest a T-bar clamp & some kind of rubberized sealant (RTV, Automotive Goop, whatever you have) just to be on the safe side.

English man. That's barely legible as a thought, let alone a comprehensible one.

I'll let yall know how it goes. I've got an ungodly amount of spare. I may put some against a header and see how long it takes to soften up & melt.

Looks like a great idea and it obviously works. Great to see homemade minds at work here. That is the ghettoist ---- I have ever seen. ---- sucking tubing working on a turbo setup!!!!!!!! I love it!!!!!!!! >:D >:D Whats next, a garden hose for an oil return line???? Keep us posted if you can do that!!!

Na the oil return line was 5/16" high temperature fuel/oil hose LoL! (The 290*F stuff, not 250).

Ghetto?
Attachment 37643
That was during the original fab, before it got clocked up a few more degrees & the piping was ground & cleaned up.
No the actuator didn't scrape... Until I hit a speedbump doing 25-30mph. It got destroyed LoL! Didn't matter... Small ass turbo - I had welded the wastegate shut anyway so it's not like it was doing anything LoL!

Think that's ghetto? You should see how I ported my heads, and how that super ghettoness gave some massive returns.
