As Jeff said...Grow some *****.
You learn from your mistakes.
Well smart people learn from other's mistakes, but there isn't a lot of people her with an Auto tranny.
So you would have to ...Just Do it.
Look at your budget and try to do as advised before.

They haven't even begun flaming.

I wouldn't suggest throwing a turbo on your auto tranny. The Honda auto trannies are.....well, they are junk. IMO of course. They weren't meant to handle any sort of performance driving. You will go through trannies like I go through clutches. I can buy a clutch for allot cheaper than you can buy a tranny for.

As for the "j bodies" and big blocks, those transmissions were built to handle the power of a high torque 8 cylinder engine. Honda does not have a high torque engine. Hell, Honda doesn't even have a mid torque engine :P

If you want your transmission to last, put a cooler on it, get a temperature guage for it, and keep clean fluid in it. Hopefully it will outlast my clutch

Dr. Boost,

I wasnt sure if the honda trannies were good or not since I have not owned one. But as for the high torque v-8's in jbodies... Jbodies are cavaliers and sunfires mainly. Our 2.4's do happen to have quite a bit of torque for a 4 cylendar though.

I know its not fast compared to some of you guys but we have auto's running mid 13's with nitrous. We just upgrade to the B&M shiftplus or auto trans interceptor since our 4speeds are electronically controlled.

Either way I will be putting a tranny cooler on my car even without a turbo setup....it will drastically prolong the life of even a stock trans.

Thanks for clearing that up though dr boost... like i said I know very little about honda's so I didnt want to say "yeah sure it will be fine" lol

Hahaha, I was thinking about old Mustangs and Camaros and Chargers!!! I wasn't familiar with the term "J bodies". lol

I have seen Auto Honda's with Nitrous that performed well, and were plenty fast. I would recommend a transmission cooler for any car. It's cheap insurance and an extra saftey measure.

You can't compare auto trannies for performance driving vs a manual. We(auto drivers) know that we can't launch at 4-6k RPM and can't do some of the other "neat stuff" like burnouts and hard downshifting(without consequences anyway) that manual cars can. But it goes the same for manual cars too, if you dropped your clutch at 4-6k RPM all the time and shifted at 6k each time, how long would your manual tranny last? It's all about how you drive and maintain it. Manual vs Auto, reminds me of Domestics vs Imports
The Auto trannies should do fine as long as you don't abuse it like already mentioned. And get an external tranny cooler, it's a very cheap insurance and less heat is always good.
