Where was that bit of smoke coming from? Looked like around the turbine side, I was thinking it was like the paint getting heated up for the first time.

No no as complex said its oil/grease/cutting fluid on the manifold, turbo, and down pipe. I have a habit of using cutting fluid when I bore holes in stainless and other thick metal so as to not catch the bit/mill. It works great but it coats the parts in an invisible layer of oil that later burns off. Every car I've put together though always smokes for a bit burning off residuals. Even just handling parts gets your skin oils on it and that burns off.
