and by measuring it out... it doesnt look like i would be able to fit one on my bay and be able to route the pipes without cutting a hole in the frame ( i have a 90 si hatch with a b16)....... yeah well

Re: LS with HX-35?? w/ pics
that one is a HX, its damn close to the same size compressor as my WH1C, but my turbine is def way smaller
the holset will fit in a EF w/ b-series. its all about where the mani places the turbo and using a 1/2 rad.
you need to find a manifold that places teh turbo as far from the block as possible. and you would need a shorter FMIC so you can straight from teh comp outlet into it

Yep, shorter IC core width so you can have a "backdoor" style inlet for the compressor to feed into, or else you have to pass charge pipe through the frame rail.
Yep, that is an HX35.
BLAAST: Holset 3LD? I'm not entirely familiar... you sure it isn't the 3DLZ that Holset/KKK/Schwitzer teamed up to make for the ~87 turbo 911? Because I gave one of those to a friend on the condition that he'd rebuild it and USE it. Do you have any pics of the tag with the model numbers, or at very least a kick in the ***, for me?

Re: LS with HX-35?? w/ pics
just found a little more info on the WH1C i bought
found it on http://dodgeram.org/support_pgs/tech_index.htm
Holset WH1C 12 sq cm turbine housing, 15-18 psi (i'm pretty sure the diff is 5sp vs.Auto)
1994 Ram Diesel 5.9l L6 OHV 12v
Manual Transmission
Power: 160 bhp @ 2500 rpm
Torque: 400 lb-ft @ 1500 rpm
Automatic Transmission
Power: 160 bhp @ 2500 rpm
Torque: 400 lb-ft @ 1500 rpm
The stock 12 cm housing on 94+ engines (32v) is OK up to about 240 HP, beyond which the small housing restricts the exhaust and raises EGT. A 16 cm housing provides enough low speed boost for an enhanced engine, and the exhaust runs cooler at high speed.
my estimate on spool based on engine size and peak tq from teh dodge
5.9l / 1.8l = 3.27
1500rpm x 3.27 = 4500rpm @ 15-18psi
being as i will be using a stock MAP i'm only gonna run 9psi (2psi safety margin)
so i believe i will hit 9psi a bit faster than that.
now i just need to find a good compressor map for it
EDIT: link fixed

Re: LS with HX-35?? w/ pics
nice looks good... keep us updated.
I was checking out the holset topic on HT and it looks like these are some of the best turbo's for the buck if your willing to work a lil bit.
Ive been trying to find a little more info on the HX30 myself... like actual size of the turbo not just the compressor/turbine specs. The hx30 is compared to a highly efficient t3/to4e so that should be about right for my b16 and hopefully its smaller than the 35 so i can stick it in my bay a little easier.

Re: LS with HX-35?? w/ pics
good reliable info/specs on these turbos is very limited. i think other peoples trials are gonna be the best bet for the characteristcs of these things. and even then there hasnt been very many people to run them on hondas, mostly DSM's and European cars
parts are kinda hard to find too, i cant find a turbine outlet gasket for the life of me. and i need one so i can get someone to make me a DP flange. i kinda wish i got an HX or HY so i could use a v-band
the efficiency of the compressor seems to be almost infinite based one people's comparisons to large T4's and GT turbos

Re: LS with HX-35?? w/ pics
i guess thats the trade off for the cheap prices for a very efficent turbo....
have you ever come across any actual pictures/ones for sale of the hx30.... ive been having trouble finding one.
Id like to know if it uses a V band or what.....

Re: LS with HX-35?? w/ pics
from what i've seen its either a v-band or a round 6 bolt
what engine are you running?? the hx-35 seems to be the choice for b-series. the h1c is almost identical the the hx-35, just a little smaller and cheaper

Re: LS with HX-35?? w/ pics
Im running a completely stock internal b16 still OBD-0 in my 90 si hatch... Im not planning on making huge power, just 250-300 at the very most on a good tune.
My biggest concern is just that of fitment. But id rather end up getting an hx30/hx35/or h1c for a lot less than a t3/t4 and have some more fab work to do.
