HomemadeTurbo - DIY Turbo Forum - I think I got fucked on my "professional rebuild"

Blaast rebuilt my hx-35 the first time I wanna say almost a year ago or less. The snap ring holding the compressor side popped off first run and the housing clearanced itself on the shaft and nut, and the compressor wheel got the corners knocked off. It was pretty much a guarentee that it was user error so I don't hold that against him, though I did bitch at him a good bit.

Sent it back and he returned it extremely fast, charged me the cost of rebuild kit + shipping. This time the bolts holding the exhaust housing on were just finger snug and I didn't notice. The first rebuild they came back torqued so I never checked them this time. General concensus on here was I was again a dumb ass and they always come like that. I was a little bitter but still probably not his fault. the exhaust wheel just barely touched the housing as I caught it before it got that loose.

I'm pushing some oil now maybe 5k and a few months later. Shaft is pretty ------- tight with just a touch of shaft play.

I don't think I'll bother sending it back to him again for a rebuild, but I wouldn't say I got scammed. If I hadn't let the turbo get fucked with the snap ring I'd bet my turbo would be cherry right now as it was tight as ---- when I first got it back from him. I fgure at the least it's a little out of whack from the exhaust housing incedent but still holding on. And this turbo was completely fucked when I got it off of ebay claimed as a 'good came off running engine turbo' I doubt exhaust gas could even spin the shaft, bearings were toast, and there was a coating of carbonized oil everywhere.
