For sure. I really think that rebuilding a turbo is hit and miss by anyone unless it's genuinely balanced with a big ass expensive machine and ALL new internals are fitted. The problem is that when you join some parts that are worn, and some that aren't; you get issues in a device that spins 150k< rpm's. Blaast has some good recommendations, so all his turbos weren't bad. If he's fitting them with used or Chinese parts then that's a miracle lol.

I'd say "rebuilt" simply isn't the way to roll. With used turbos these days you just don't know, so brand new is the answer. It's not worth the few bucks you'll save buying used or rebuilt. Chinese turbos are the same way too. They're hit and miss. Then again, companies like PTE and AGP that modify Garrett factory turbos see failure occasionally. The only way to absolutely guarantee perfection IMO is to buy a brand new Garrett that's straight from the factory. Just budget it into your build. $400+ for a new turbo.

This does not work. I had a good turbo with bad seals. I did what you just said and it only lasted 2 blocks :P

What ------' gets me is that THERE ARE reputable shops in alot of areas that have the machinery and equipment to rebuild and balance turbo's for diesel engines on semis, farm equipment, etc. etc. But if you walk in the place with a turbo that is used for something other that, they look/talk at/to you like ur ------' stupid and don't have a clue as to what you're talking about.

Cliffs:

Don't buy french canadian rebuilt turbos.

Buy used turbos only if you want to throw them away when blown.

Buy new if you can.

i recently got a t3/t4 from blasst 82 exhaust 70 comp, put it on my car, within a week it had unusable amounts of shaft play and endplay, even allowed for a 500 mile brake in period. now the wheel touches the comp housing like crazy, so now im fucked. idk what to do, doubt theres any sort of warrenty, and i dont want to wait long again. also the comp wheel will touch the housing if theres no compressor seal inbetween when bolted down, but ive had a few turbos without seals and they still spin and dont touch, like somthing wasnt machined properly. anyone got a turbo good for 500+whp for me :6

Most of the time I dont agree on what you guys say about french canadian, but on that I can't be against... I was 15 yo (I'm 22 now) when I first see blaast on http://www.montrealpreludeclub.com. His prelude was about to get boosted at that time I think. If he cant rebuilt a turbo after 7 years, he will never do it good...

ordered mine from gpop and guess i got lucky boosts great so far doesnt leak... he was also very helpful and even modified the exhaust flange for the manifold for me so i could use my adapter plate, grinded the bolt holes flat and drilled out the threads for me (wanted to bolt her up soon as she came back). They were easy to deal with and would take my calls seemed reputable.

he's french. when attacked, he runs away as fast as those little frog legs will carry him. i'm surprised he didn't incllude white surrender flags with a blaast logo on them in the boxes he shipped the "rebuilt" turbos back in.
