I still think it's uncalled for. If they would of called for notified him letting him know they were swapping center housing. Be it if the housing was out of rebuild specs or they just have prebuilt chra's ready to swap the exhaust and compressor housings on it. Though if that was the case then why the two month wait? Hell Chip Foose can rebuild an entire car in a week but Frenchy Turbo Fucker takes months to send back a turbo and everything I've seen lately are bunk ass rebuilds. I was thinking of sending my thunderchicken pump there but have yet to see anything to throw my 150 clams into the garbage and wait months to get back a shiny turd. Gpopshop FTW.

Re: I think I got fucked on my "professional rebuild"

I sold a Blaast turbo I got and it ended up being blown. I refunded the buyer and brought the turbo over to my local rebuild shop for inspection. It turns out there was 1 Chinese journal bearing in it that was new, and 1 OEM Garrett journal bearing in it that was original. There also was no compressor gasket and from what I gather the seals were just normal steel and not carbon like the factory. All signs point to it being "rebuilt" with Chinese internals. I thought maybe somebody messed with it before I bought it, and after Blaast fixed it, but reading all these comments I'm almost wondering if that's how it came to the seller I bought it from.

Also, G-Pop is notorious on some forums for using non-OEM components to rebuild turbos. There's even a saying called "G-Popped" which means the turbo was rebuilt with shoddy components. The bottom line is that mostly all of the shops claiming they can rebuild turbos are just basement operations without the proper tools one should have if they're truly remanufacturing a turbocharger. After buying numerous rebuilt turbos I've pretty much realized that once a turbo is fucked up it's like playing Russian roulette to try and have it fixed. I'd just stick to either used and unmolested turbos or brand new. I learned my lesson and am now done buying/selling rebuilt turbos. The fuckers spin so fast that it really shouldn't surprise anyone that they fail once they've been stuffed with sub-par internals.

I bought a T3 50 .42/.48 trim from him. I've yet to use it, I wonder if it will leak or not?

MOre than likely it will, based on how many issues those Blaaasstholes end up with.

I could see swapping a CHRA with a prebuilt one to save time, but at least use one with the same fittings. Its not Blaasthole's fault the fittings didnt' work - its Blaasthole's fault he didn't supply you with NEW FITTINGS THAT WORKED. Seriously, if you don't send back the exact same part, its not a "rebuild". Its called getting fucked over.

Get rid of it as soon as possible.... I hope you didn't pay too much for it.

I don't know, I bought a "REMANUFACTURED" turbo from him last year, bolted it to the car in August and have put 10 or 11 thousand miles on it. It doesn't burn or leak oil(knock on wood) and seems to boost fine. With all the talk I've heard lately though, I doubt if I'd deal with him again. It's a shame really. :-\

Mine had just shy of 5k on it, and it still boosted fine, it was just pouring oil out of the compressor.

I'm not mad about swapping the chra, but like you said I am pissed its different, I would at least expect it to be swapped with a similar chra.

Ive also noticed that some of the bolts in the turbo dont fit at all, like the ones holding the compressor housing on, they bottom out well before the head it tight on the housing's retaining ring thingy. Just shoddy, I used to tell my friends what a good deal I thought I got from that place but in the end you really do get what you pay for I guess.

Funny thing is Blaast still posts here though but he's yet to chimed in yet. In another thread where people were talking about using rc ball bearings in place of journal bearings to make a ball bearing center housing. People said they actually did that and that it DID work and he jumps in and says it won't work and it's not that easy. Have you contacted Blaast yet or no?

A completely different meaning of the term, "Gettin put on blaast". Blaast should be put on blast.
