2.5 inch downpipe and exhaust. No cat no res just an N1 at the end.
Stock injectors.
Base map was not just a stock map for boost.

Yea B16Drag you got it, most stress is in the 5th gear constant high rpm situations.

No a/f guage just a boost guage.

But it just wasnt a healthy shortblock. Really POS style temporary block.

Im hopefully picking up a a6 block this week.

Cant get much stronger than that for a stock D block.

yeah it had to be the block....

my B7 with 265k miles held up at 10psi non intercooled jrsc boost daily! I did many MANY highway pulls as I commute 80 miles round trip to and fro work. I think someone needs a lesson in TUNING!!!

Lol you guys are crazy lol.

#1 I didnt do the tuning.
I got a map sent to me from a friend just to get the car running.
So blah on the need to learn.

#2 its been on the cold side in the area.
Ive pulled off exits when I 1st put the kit on after some hard pulls in 3rd and 4th to see how hot the charge pipe gets.
Not bad at all, feels like how my intake would get before the turbo.

#3 it always ran smooth, plugs were nice and tan after 3rd gear runs.

And your 265k motor was probably in better condition than mine. I got the block free, and put it in knowing it would bust sooner or later, I just needed to get around for a while. And by no means did it look healthy. Sludge, SHOT rings and blew smoke on the car it originally came from that wasnt taken care of.

So was it the block. Yes.

Car ran fine DAILY. What happens when your at one constant high rpm with a heavy load ? Its not like acceling 1st-3rd.

BTW boost guage sits above 0 some when off, so it might not be 7psi, but its near it.

Anyway thanks for all the help.

Cool. How long did all these take you ?

My list.

97 y8. Spun bearing.
Y8 head z6 block. Spun bearing.
Y8 head b7 block. Headgasket blew = Hydro lock. (Head didnt make it either)
Y7 head b7 block. Snapped rod. Holes in block.

Thats all so far, but all within about 1.5 years.

I will actually spend some type of real money on a D series soon.

Z6 block(spun bearing).
Get a new crank.
Cheapo Eagle Rods.
Even cheapo-er Grand Vitara pistons.
Block guard.
ARP Head studs.
Zex Valve springs (Already have them actually)

Nice list though.

I've had the car for about 2.5 years, did the first one about a year into it.

Hydrolocked the second one about 4-5 months later

Third motor went in with boost, and an auto to manual swap, and lasted about 7 months before i tore it down to find the ringland issue (still running when we tore it down)

The next 4 I have installed and yanked out over the past few weeks between my bro in laws shop and beerbongs garage, all of them were no good.
