I think I've seen one actual picture of anything breaking off the back of the block. It was a pipe setup just like you have, but I still don't think that means ----.
If you ask me, the "everything will break off the block" crowd is the same crowd that will tell you only honda bearings work in honda motors, and it's just not true.

The critical point of making that thing work is getting the threads to stay in the block. Because the other end of the pipe is threaded, you can (and should) install that pipe into the block as if you never ever ever want it to come out. This is probably going to involve thread locker on the threads of it, as well as some jb weld on the outside of it once it's tightened in. Don't tighten it too tight, but just enough. Now, as long as those threads don't ever come out of the block, you aren't going to have anything to worry about because the other fittings can be changed to your liking later if needed.
I've actually been meaning to do a block fitting torture test on a junk block, but Jago just hasn't brought it to me yet. I know the crowd will say I can't duplicate the vibrations and the temperature changes, but I'm confident in my ability to torture things until they break that alot of them will use at least a little bit of logic before passing the rumor around some more.

I know I'm supposed to tell you it's not going to work and that you should order my stuff, but if you do it right, the Homemade gods will grant you clemency.

With the length of the pipe leaving the weight even further from the block, and that you're using the wrong threads, you are going to need to install this one time. Use thread locker, and a mound of jb weld around the base of it. Once you install it, don't try to take it out for any reason and you'll be good. Maybe even a ziptie up the feedline attaching it in a fashion that will take some of the weight/stress off of it to be safe.
