how is my oil feed?
well i put this piece together at the hardware store. some people on h-t are telling me that i shouldn't use it and that there is a 100% chance it will "bust off"... i see you guys use setups like this all the time. installed it is very sturdy to the point were i can lift the block up (its out of the car) by the fitting.

Re: how is my oil feed?
looks good
your gonna need some type of restrictor cuz thats alot of oil going through there |
Re: how is my oil feed?
lemme guiess, thats not BSP is it?
|
Re: how is my oil feed?
Looks nice and beefy. It's possible it could break off because of how long it is, but after you said you can pick up the engine by it I seriously doubt that's going to happen.

Re: how is my oil feed?
hmm i didnt figure it would be a problem running that size, i believe its 3/8s. too big?
i dont think ive seen one with a restrictor before, have any pics? |
Re: how is my oil feed?
dont forget teflon paste so it doesnt leak. btw autozone sells those and they're brass. they're in the sunpro ----.

Re: how is my oil feed?
that fitting looks like npt if its from a hardware, you should be using bsp, also you will need a restrictor using that large of a fitting... but its your car. You should just get the right stuff from tunertoys or stealthmode and never have to question it again.

Re: how is my oil feed?
yeah like i said im a noob so npt and bsp dont make any sense to me, anyone care to enlighten me? :1

Re: how is my oil feed?
npt= national pipe threaded, bsp= british pipe threaded. Think of it as standard and metric. You WON'T be able to screw that into your existing oil pressure sensor hole without cross threading like a mofo. You need something that will be like:
(stock oil pressure sensor)--->NPT----pipe----BSP----->(block) Your block accepts a BSP fitting. Don't try to shove an NPT fitting up in dat azz, beeatch :6 |
Re: how is my oil feed?
hmmm.... thats odd it screwed right in even with teflon tape. should i get a new fitting just to be safe?
