Just don't cut yourself short, if you want your car to run its best and not give you alot of problems GET everything up front.

I started with a used greddy kit I picked up for $500sh, for a civic EX. The fuel management system sucked because I'm in an OBD2 car, so if you go this way just shell out the extra cash and get an FMU/Fuel Pump or the AFC hack.

I'd actually say if you're going to go premade, get a turbonetics kit so that you get everything..

thanx for the info about the premade kit. but i really doubt ill be able to afford a premade kit...not a new one at least. thats why im here at HMT right? most people on here i would assume are trying to make their own kits. im gonna ask 125 from my friend. hopefully he'll go for that. i think 125 sounds pretty reasonable.

i took a closer look at my engine compartment today. and i really udnerstand why most people take out their AC now. there is SO LITTLE SPACE with the AC unit in there. im not even sure if i get a custom manifold if it will fit in there. i have never read any info on someone putting a turbo in a 97 LX engine and kept the AC too. so this is gonna be QUITE A PROJECT.

also another question. for anyone with a FMIC, how do you get the piping from the turbo around the driver side of the car? i dont see any openings. for the passanger side i can just route the piping through the hole that i cut for my CAI. but on the driver side i dont see anyway i can wrap the piping around to the front of the car. any info on that?

as for the so cal "shopping trip" i think i probably shouldnt waste FORUM SPACE with a meeting time. email me with your IM SNs or something like that or just send an email with some times that you guys are availabe to meet up. email me at FONGAROOS1@YAHOO.COM

thanx for all the help and hope to hear from you SO CAL guys soon

update. i was talkin to my neighbor. hes the coolest guy. hes like the ALL AMERICAN DAD. he like played football in HS and hes freakin buff his wife makes pies and he has a cute little daughter and on the weekends he restores classic collector cars. anyways i was telling him about turbo charging my car and he was really willing to help. he said he call up some of his buddies who could probably make a manifold for me and also a downpipe. he said i should probably get the turbo first since we need to know how to route the charge pipes and what not. so now im just lookin for a turbo. i wanted to hit up that one junkyard that -------- was talkin about. i need to get a turbo first if i want to actually START workin on this project otherwise ill never get anything done. so i was just wondering if you socal guys had any suggestions or would be willing to come with so i dont end up getting tricked or buy bad parts or something like that...

lemme know. i was thinking probably this weekend or even during the week. i dont have class on wednesday or friday.

If you need a manifold that'll keep AC you might want to try Beau. He is making me a manifold for my 99 LX. Not sure if he's willing to make another though

thanx for his SN. ill try contacting him and asking him for some help.

quick question on turbos. ive been looking at different turbos and the 14b seems like the best one for my purposes but the turbo outlet looks like it has a flange which makes it harder to hook up the charge piping.

the t25 looks like its a bit smaller and may not produce enough power but the turbo outlet seems to be parallel to the filter inlet. and it also looks like a pipe could hook right up to it since there is no flange.

which do you guys think i should be looking for?

and also how much should i be paying for a used turbo? 14b or t25... either...

www.roadraceengineering.com has all the stuff you'd need for the 14b, from the compressor outlet flange to the [url=http://www.roadraceengineering.com/mandrelbends.htm]"J"[/ur]. At the very bottom, "Other bends" (1 7/8" U bend).
I paid 150 for my 14b, no shaft play. Seemed to be in good condition, just dirty as hell.
