Those aren't the best welds I have seen but only time on the car will tell if it will hold up.

Yeah, should hold.

The hottest part of the exhaust is in the turbine, and that's where the exhaust dumps into the downpipe. My downpipe has the cast iron flange, and I welded onto that with a mig... very strong.

haha my wifes geo's 4afe manifold is cracked between the first 2 runners and the 2nd set of runners... so that manifold looks a bit better then mine to start off w/

i'm thinking the same thing w/ the rolla though, a turbo woud make it so much more fun and would be relativly simple... for that kinda manifold it should hold plenty well... idealy i belive you should use an ARC welder for cast to steel, i don't recall the rod you should use... NI maybe? after welding you are suposed to let it cool VERY slowly... i know some guys burry it in a bunch of sand... they say it's still warm 24 hrs later... if i ever go though w/ the turbo idea i'll likely do something like this

so what are your plans for fuel managment? i've got a parts car comming my way soon so i could always rebuild the motor w/ GZE low compression semi forged pistions just wonder how the auto tranny would take that extra 6psi or so :-/

There was a guy in Florida running 14.5's with an auto tranny, I think he had like a 94 Rolla, the auto's can take the boost fine!

Well, I had the FMU on before, but I sold it for $103 and bought a EIC SMC for $50, and I have some DSM 450's laying around somewheres.....

The SMC is a "super map controller". It's not an extra injector controller. It's made by a company called ECG. The guy in FL was running like 10 PSI at the track, and his car was an auto, 4afe.
