Dude,
i vouch for harbor freight wire feed.
Ugly, but it works!
But, you definitely should use a autodarkeing mask. Cuz with this crappy welder, your going to have to "see" whats going on a lot more clearly.
Also, its going to take you quite a bit of practice to get the "lava" flowing correctly. You're going to have to learn how to avoid burning holes in the metal too lol...and how to bridge gaps. Once you get the hang of it...you can make some SOLID ugly welds lol.
Goto ebay and look for those "blue box" welders. They are the same as Harbor Freight's.
I prefer 115volt cuz its a pain to find 220volt outlets.
and yes, they work well for small stuff....like exhausts, flanges, charge piping, frame connectors, etc.
otherwise, get a Real MIG or TIG welder : )

Dude, that welder is about $349 at Home Depot...vs $139 for a easy mig 100 from HF.

Oh...
and NEVER pay retail...unless it's on a really good sale.
Look on ebay...find a good seller with good score and research the item. If its a good price, then get it and use it, and be happy that you saved 30% or MORE.

yeh dude.
they are easy to use, but you WILL get splatter ... little nuggets that go everywhere, so mind your welding environment.
I have welded on tabs, did pipes, and all kinds of other stuff. Ugly but works...this is the key.
I would look for a MIG that is Gas and Gasless....that way, you can make "cleaner" welds when you want to. Oh, and harbor freight sells them! : )

I just want a clean looking, fairly fast car, without having to buy a new one. I think i am going to do a "good" job on the down pipe, and may even grind down the ant hills on my exhaust
and to the guys looking to buy a welder. Guys, if you get Inverter tech. welders, which just about all of them are now, they are small. A little bigger than a tool box. Seriously, size is no issue. most computer towers are bigger than these ez mig and lincoln electric welders.
Oh, and i started with ARC. It blows nuts for what i wanted...so i went to Wire Feed. Much easier, and doesnt "stick" to the metal so much...so less hassle.
Gasless Mig or GAS mig (if you dont wanna go cheapo) are the way to go...until you have the patience to learn tig welding.
