while im asking questions, what kind of gasket maker stuff should i use for aplying the new oil pan gasket?

where do i put it, just on the parts that dip down, or should i use it on the whole gasket and it goes on the block side of the gasket right?

put the gasket on the pan. Put the RTV (black, cause Jeff hates the orange) sealant on the top of the gasket. bolt gasket to pan.

I thought that when tapping the oil pan you have to drop it when its full to check for like the fill line or something. Like you couldn't just mount it at the top. I'm not going to use a HF mani so there I should be straight, but I thought you had to have the downpipe on too to make sure the line doesn't run near it. Just some newb questions. :P

You can take the oil pan off and fill it with approximately how much oil will be in the pan to get an idea of how high the oil level will be.

Also, your downpipe (more than likely) won't cross underneath the turbo, so that won't be a problem.

Thanks homie, but still one more question. What fill line or whatever do I have to watch for when tapping the fitting? I remember reading something like it has to be so high. How high? Why? What for? Oh yea, BTW I'm probably going to buy a seperate oil pan so it'll be easy and can I just fill the pan with like 3 1/2 quarts of water to test the level? 3 1/2 is 3 1/2 right? Shouldn't matter should it? Thanks man!
