Default having turbo problems

Well i got everything hooked up and idling right, and i rev it up and it's not getting any boost. so i tap the gauge in 3 other places and still no boost. then i tapped it in between the compressor housing and the wastegate and it got 2psi. sometimes it went up to as much as 4psi!!!
I unhooked the IC pipes and put my hand in front of it as i revved the motor, it felt like alot more than 2-4 but i wouldn't have any idea what 4 would feel like anyway. just a guess.
Hooked everything back up to the original way and now it idles wierd. It will rise to 1200 and drop to 900 and then back up. it will do it pretty fast. im thinkin' i got a vacuum leak somewhere.

so my question is why wouldn't my boost gauge be seeing any boost also i took it down the road and looked at the oil pressure and it was only at 10! is that normal for a rebuilt engine? it's got 1 mile on the motor that i just put on there today. 87 octane gas. motor has all brand new pumps, gaskets, and belts, was professionally cleaned, new crank and piston rings. what would you think the oil pressure should be at. oh by the way the turbo is an RHB5. any help is greatly appreciated.

first of all you need 91 gas unless you like blowing up

and for no boost, so many damn reasons, i got same turbo and mine works fine, so it could be that your turbo is shot, there is an exahust leak, your oil line not suppling enough oil to turbo.

well if you getting 2psi or so then it's not charge pipes.

i dunno mna, if you didn't resarch on how to check the turbo is ok and do a half-*** job, then maybe it's time to re-think modding a car, seriously, have you opened up the turbo to see if everything is ok? can you spin the turbo and it keeps spinning aftewards?

when i hook up the boost gauge to a vacuum port i don't see any boost, when i hook it to the line in between the compressor and wastegate i got like 1psi and one time it went to 4psi. the turbo spins freely but i did not take it apart It had maybe 1mm up and down shaftplay. it does not have an exhaust leak. when i rev the motor up to 6k the turbo is really loud and it sounds like it's boosting alot.
And i didn't do a half *** job. everything on the ------- motor is brand new and it took my nearly 2 months to finish it. so why don't you try to list all the possible reasons why it wouldn't boost. or were those 2 the only ones you know of.

are you even driving the car or just revving it up? if your just revving it up you wont get hrdley any boost, your car needs to be under a load(driving), before i put my turbo on i thought i could just rev it and it would boost, but thats not the casem now those damn dsm's boost up to 10 PSI standing still, i've seen with my own eyes on 99 GST eclipse.

I took it down the road 1 time through 2nd gear and i don't think it got any boost. it actually seemed slower than my stock motor....I don't have vtec hooked up and the valves aren't adjusted yet so that might be the case i'm doing that saturday. I got a custom Coach intercooler and he said they are compression tested to 30psi... you think it could have a leak??

it could be leak, one thing that happend when i first put my tubo on was that the turbos wastgate was adjustable and it was screwed all the way out and i was getting no boost, so make sure thats in there and check and listen for leaks, before i got real ic pipes i was using crap from home depot and it started leaking and i could hear it really clearly, its a different sound than the turbo spooling up

i fixed it. after ------- with it for 2 weeks with no success, i decided to go get a new alternator since my battery was completely dead now. i hooked it up, jump started the car and took it for a test drive. I got up to 3.5 grand and i saw 5psi. i was like aww ---- i fixed it. so i stomped the gas and it hit 10psi and it pulled hard. I guess because my car was running on a dead battery and had very low voltage it didn't see any boost or something. all i did was change the alternator and it went from 0 boost to 10psi.
