I guess I'm going for over the 550whp zone. Mid 10's, 130traps is really what I'm hoping for. The cheapest way to get it would be grrrrreat. I wasn't sure if the holset hx35 would do this, or if I was going to have to look for the hx40 or not.

Anyone?

hx35 will make 500hp on a diesel. itll make 800 or so on a gas application. ----, if 10psi makes 250hp on a stock ls, imagine what 30psi will make on a built motor

Hmm.... I guess I should be on the look-out for the hx35 then, eh? I've heard of people machining 40 wheels into the 35, but i'm not quite sure if I know enough about the turbos yet to tackle this.

Also, side note: Driving home from work last night--- when BAM out of no where a ------- deer slammed into the passenger side of my car, destroying my passenger fender, and making large dents all down the side of my car. ------- deers. Pics to come shortly.

^^^^ That ------' sux man...I live in south GA so I know all about ya car gettin' fucked up by deer, you should've had those hi-beams on bro. Really nice car btw. I work in 2 professional grade paint boths, that job looks GREAT to have come out of a rattle can. You talk about not wanting a "roll-only" car, you should look into a boost controller that allows you to run different psi, in different gears. Low boost in 1st and 2nd(& 3rd if it's necessary) and pour tha coal to that bitch in 4th and 5th...

Thanks for the tips. When I say "roll-only" car, I mean that I'm too broke to make a competitive car that can take the harshness of a 600+whp launch at the track repeatedly. At that hp level, a lot of stuff starts to break. As far as the boost controll, I am running the GM boost solenoid with me eCtune program, which has gear dependant boost control. w00t! Find me a holset someone!

No.HX35 will get to his goals but you are not getting even remotely close to 800hp HX40 would be ideal with a 14-16cm housing.

no it wont, the 3 series holsets are all good for 500 - 550 crank on a gas setup. 300 - 350 reliably on a diesel. specced by holset themselves...

the hx40 is bigger, but not thaaaat much bigger, and the hx55 is huge, running that would be a mistake.
