Default Clocking turbo

Hi all,

Trying to rotate my compressor round but i'm not sure if it'll work. It looks like the compressor is attached to the middle bit by 4 bolts, is it them that i loosen because there's 6 on the compressor but they don't seem to do anything?

http://community.webshots.com/photo/...78303726teMPki if pic don't work

Also what do i do about the wastegate?

I only want to turn it because it would make charge piping easier, but not sure if its worth the hassle

yeah, it's the six bolts on the compressor, just loosen them some and it should turn fairly easily, you may need to tap it a bit. as far as your wastegate actuator, you may have to drill a hole in the compressor to mount it to, or if you can get it to line up with a different hole when you rotate it. btw, that manifold is going to crack.

just loosen the bolts and hit it with a hammer. then weld some braces on the ssautoass manifold.

Yeh i'm gonna get some braces for it, and use flexi pipe in the downpipe so it should be ok.

Where is the wastegate actuator is it the gold thing? If so, i won't need to mount it anywhere else because it can stay there right? And i just extend the vacuum lines?

yeah, you can just extend the vacuum lines, i didn't look at the pic at first, that's a strange wg actuator, they're usually mounted to the compressor with an arm that reaches to the exhaust housing. do you know what that turbo came off of?

Yeh its apparently off a Volvo 740 turbo, t3 size .48 on the compressor.

So its quite easy for me then, just rotate and extend the lines...right?

Well i've done it And it wasn't too hard! Post pics tomorrow

One thing is, i got a lil curious and took off the whole compressor housing, was pretty clean inside except for a big blotch of thick oil, which i wiped off. That's ok isn't it?

Also, with the vacuum lines do i need to put them as they were originally or can i swap the holes if you get me? Does the direction of air flow matter!?

Oh yeh when i took the vacuum lines off, there was a bit of thick oil in there as well, is this normal?
