Ah. I only remember him as a bit older and more emaciated. Shortly before he died and they launched a portion of his ashes up into low earth orbit so they could burn up on re-entry. Guess that's why I didn't recognize him. Never got off on him much, but I did enjoy the monologue on RevCo's Gila Copter.

Leary wasn't a hippy. He was, technically, somewhere between a yippie and a ----------er, but too paralysed by intellectual bullshit to take much action.

I saw a couple vids of him and another guy who were invited to be keynote speakers at a college graduation ceremony. They both acquitted themselves well. At the party afterward, cameraman is sifting his way through the crowd, comes on keynote #1 pontificating articulately on some concept or the other... pans through the crowd for a minute and comes across Leary, "Where's the cocaine? Where's the cocaine?" Kinda funny.
