Cool man!

I don't think the intercooler is the restriction in this setup, probably the carb itself is I would think. Anyway how many PSI you running? At work the kits I have installed use an intercooler 1/2 the size and we are getting 270hp out of a 1080cc engine.....

Thanks for the pics. Are you satisfied with the outcome? How does it run?

I got to agree with others, the cooler is not grabbing cold air but the air from the heated engine. the whole idea of a cooler is to "cool" the intake charge.you are working with what you got I understand but,the way you have it might be "heating" the air instead of cooling.not much but a little with the fans forcing the hot air i to it.think about it,how hot is the under hood temp under boost?hot air rises and you are forcing that temp threw the cooler.an air to water would be your best bet the way it sits you do need it in front of the rad.to do anything.I commend you on doing the conversion good job but it needs a little tweaking to give you better HP.

You could turn the IC 90 deg and set it up like a top mount (similar to the 2nd jen RX7 or the WRX setups) You will have to build a small box that would seal the IC to the bottom of the hood when it is closed. After that install a hood scoop (again I would go with one from a wrx or a 2nd Jen RX7) and it should work. The only down side to a top mount is that it will eventually heat soak but hay considering what you did in 5 hr and such a low $$$$ amount congrats!!!!! Good work Keep us posted on the progress.

Digging the build, looks like a fun setup. They are right about the intercooler though, what you have now is a interheater (as corky bell would call it). He warned that you should beware of the interheater in his book, Maximum Boost.

If you are running over 6psi, i would recommend you run a front mount intercooler. If you are running 6psi or less, I would replace that intercooler with a piece of insulated pipe and call it a day. Just make sure your turbo is pulling in air at ambient temperature.

Thanks dean! The bonnet is lifted 10cm at the back, so there is no hot air hanging :P im boosting 0.3bar now, because of the crap clutch i got that can only handle that boost otherwise it slips, its a 100kw clutch, so i downtune it.

"When" i boost more the IC will move to the front and by then the clutch will be replaced by something more gripping. for now this is my weekend fun car
