Default boost is ------- crack! Engine build pics

10-13psi was definately not enough, just as my buddy told me. He said, you'll be addicted to boost, like a ------- drug or something. Sure enough, even running 12 psi daily, i was craving more than everyone else is running. So i started a plan to build the motor. at first i was gonna use b18b rods and a nice set of pistons, but school didnt have a .748" ream. So instead of spending the money for the rods and the ream and the time of the machine work, i bought a set of scat rods and vitara pistons.

another sick *** picture of these rods, i cant imagine what it would take to break these *******...

the cheap *** egay blockguard:

For $190, which i thought was a pretty good deal, i got the block decked 3 times (apparently the deck was really warped) the head decked once, the crand micropolished and champhered, and an allign hone done on the cylinder walls.

these are the notches in the bottom of the cylinder that were needed to clear those giant *** rods. if these things were't dead center of the bore, they would and still actually did, scrape the walls the whole way down to the crank.

heres a pic of the crank, i dont know if you can see or not, but the journals look a hell of alot better than when the damn thing was sent to them

the engine is currently hanging over the engine bay... i hope to button everyting up tomorrow or saturday. The best part of it all is the break in instructions for the rings, it says to do 5 full throttle runs from 30-65 mph! i cant wait to feel 20+ psi of boost. i plan on pushing the vitara pistons to the max, just to let everyone know what they can handle. I heard of someone boosting 22psi on them, so i'll probably start at 20 and work my way up. I just gotta wait for my MSD to come in and then i'll be set. btw, im gonna run a ct26 to show all the haters that it can make WAY more than 15psi efficently. This thing puts my .63/.60 to shame. Its twice the size. I'll try and get a vid or something up soon..

sohc, the rods actually cleared? It doesn't look like you took a lot off when you notched the block. I notched the block more than that and mine are still hitting. Maybe it just looks like there wasn't a lot taken off.

all the milling of the head and block should work well with the vitaras.
how do the cooling holes in the head and hg line up with the block guard ones?
looking good so far. good luck!

mindless- yea its a single cam. If it wasnt, I'd probably change my sn. Their notched pretty good, i didnt just clearance where the rod goes, about an inch and a half of the bottom of the bore (lengthwise) is notched. Its pretty deep, definatly got into the iorn of the cylinder walls.

stillnoturbo- it wasnt the big purchases (rods, pistons, machine work) that really got me. Its all the little ---- that i didnt budget for. Heres a breakdown if your interested. I got some more pics of the completed engine ill post later.

scat rods- 250
vitara pistons- 138 (with overnight delivery because i got fucked by "guit guit" on eGAY)
arp headtsuds- 100
acl rod/main bearings, thrust washers- 55
headgasket, IM gasket, EXgasket, pan gasket, valve seals, T belt, both crank seals- 160
Tap for head threads, 2 of my studs would only go about 1" down- 8
engine assembaly lube, feeler gauge, wd40- 15
and finally machine work. My block had to get decked 3 times to be flat. He said in between the bores where the cylinders meet was so warped, so it cost 75 just for that. but i also got an allign hone, micropolish journals and champhered oil holes, and the head decked. grand total was... $190

i dont have a calculator to add it all up but i spent more than i wanted to. just like crack. Im sure it will be worth it when i take that little ****** out and beat the ---- out of it. Its gonna be so nice to have the security of a built motor.

the holes in the blockguard are an exact copy of the ones in the hg.

Yea, d sereis compression calculator said 8.8 or something so im assuming its pretty close to 9:1

Ah, I see. I guess I'll be breaking out the dremel again this weekend.

if your using a dremel, that might be your problem. I used a die grinder with a big carbide bit to clearance. ---- still hurt my hand when i was done. when i look at that pic, it really doesnt look like their that deep at all, but they are. probably about .250"

i cant even give you a better pic, ***** all back together
