wow, that is just amazing. a friend of mine has/had a first gen that wasnt running. cancered to hell and back though. one thing is for sure, any other motor than stock in the bitch and your asking for big trouble. light as hell and plenty of power from a b series like you have. ---- even a stout d would make that little car move. cant wait to see what comes of this civic. looks like its gonna be one hell of a blast to drive.

I have been hearing a lot of ---- about how my mounts won't be strong enough, but when I compare them to the stock mounts, they seem way beefier. To my knowledge, stock mounts will handle the 120hp this engine makes just fine, so why wouldn't mine? This is of course assuming my birdshit welds don't break.

I'm positive that I got good penetration. I tacked the plates on then hit them with a torch until it was a dull red, then welded a bead on both sides. After the first pass, it was glowing red hot and that's when I welded the other side. The reason the welds look like birdshit is because I went over them slowly to build up enough heat for good penetration. My welder is a shitty little 110v on maximum amperage with the wire speed as low as I can get it without just blowing ---- everywhere, but a torch preheat and going slowly should give the welds adequate strength. If they don't, Oh well, but I'm NOT doing it again if I don't have to.

Even with a 110v welder you shouldn't have to preheat the frame rail or that (what looks to be) 1/8" steel. That ---- is pretty thin. All that heat probably work hardened the mounts and the frame, making it hard yet brittle. I just hope a sudden shock, like dumping the clutch or something, doesn't snap them. It'll probably hold though. You'd be surprised how much even a small tack could hold.
