that's what I thought, but the only change to my setup are those injectors and removing the resistor box. One thing that worries me is that my ecu was open on both sides and might have touched a ground and shorted, but there is no sign of anything arcing or getting hot

The ecu grounds the injectors thru itself. Id make sure you dont have excessive resistance to ground from the ecu. .5 ohms is enough to screw with your injectors.

What is the CEL? what code is it throwing?

I tried checking it and it won't blink. I just had a thought that maybe the ecu ground on the thermostat housing didn't get tightened down and maybe it vibrated loose. I will check that when I get home from work tonight.

i had this same problem the other day putting in xenocron fuel pump...i pulled a dumb *** move and my cel was staying on and nothing else was happening...i checked the main relay per the honda manual, everything checked out....then i checked the fuse next to the srs fuse (two fuses that stick out on the top right side of the fuse box under dash) and it was blow...put in a new one, and everything went back to normal...

also check the ecu fuse under the hood, blew that once and had very similar problem

all of the fuses under the hood are good. all of the ones i could easily see i pulled out and checked. i am going to check the ones next to the srs right now though.

i learned a long time ago working at a nissan dealership, when you are having a weird problem, check every fuse. when you fix a cruise control problem by replaceing a windsheild wiper fuse it will make that stick. that was a long time ago and its easy to forget those things when its your own car
